How to find a supervisor

Prospective Honours students may approach staff members directly or seek advice from the Head of the Department or Honours Coordinators as to the most appropriate people to help them develop their interests. This can be done by direct contact or by email contact (email addresses can be found from the zoology or university home pages). Many staff members place lists or pamphlets outside their doors with information about specific projects they will be offering, particularly from the middle of Semester II on. If none on offer appeals, you may still approach a staff member to ask about other projects or co-supervision. Obtaining a project that fits your interests exactly is not always possible or necessary at the Honours level, so flexibility is essential when considering projects and supervisors. You should also discuss with potential supervisors whether particular projects will be offered in the Discovery or Links stream.
